Launch of the Wesleyan Foundation

Wesleyan is a mutual which provides specialist financial advice and solutions to select professional groups, notably GPs, hospital doctors, dentists, teachers and lawyers.

Engaging customers in a charitable Foundation

ERS has been assisting Wesleyan with its AGM proxy voting requirements since 2012. We were thrilled when Wesleyan approached us to assist with voting requirements ahead of the launch of the Wesleyan Foundation in May 2017. The Wesleyan Foundation is a fund designed to provide financial support for great causes that are important to Wesleyan’s members, customers and the communities in which they live and work.

Every quarter Wesleyan will invite its members and supporters of the nominated causes to vote for the cause they would most like to support. The more votes a cause gets, the bigger the share of support it receives.

Our response to the brief

To support the traditional postal proxy form vote, we worked closely with Wesleyan to build their AGM online platform and provide an improved voter experience. The new site offers biographies of the Directors, information about attending the meeting and enhanced member feedback functionality. We also customised our ERSvotes platform to include voting on the charitable causes, as well as supporting information about each cause. The platform enabled members to submit comment about the new initiative as well as cast their votes.


  • The business-as-usual administration of the AGM proxy voting continues, but there is now an enhanced voting experience and members have access to more information on the AGM, the resolutions and the Directors available, via the ERSvotes platform.
  • The use of the ERSvotes platform for the Wesleyan Foundation has delivered a high voter turnout quarter-on-quarter, with increasing engagement. Additionally, the platform has allowed for a variety of feedback to be captured, from members and individuals who have benefited directly from the charities included in the new initiative.

Providing engagement opportunities beyond the core governance requirements of an AGM is a great way to create a dialogue with members. We focus on enabling our clients to provide the right information at the right time and develop content that helps to build relationships and maximise engagement.

We are very pleased with the developments to the voting platform. Foundation voting levels have been pleasing and the additional feedback functionality has given us valuable customer insight and, of course, opportunity for engagement.
